Healthy Pets Begin With Smart Nutrition

Don’t be fooled by the label on the bag of dog or cat food. If you are not familiar with what makes up the ingredients listed it can be quite misleading. Allow us to educate you or give you a recommendation about the proper food for your pet. Good quality food can be tailored for the type of pet you have to prevent and/or manage health issues common among that breed. Remember to always provide lots of fresh, clean water at all times. Table scraps do not offer the nutrition that they need. The more you give them human food the less likely he/she is to eat their own. Your pet will get less of the vitamins and minerals he needs and probably more of those he does not need. Table scraps are also the quickest route to weight problems, even worse it can lead to your pet becoming a picky eater. Breaking your pet of the habit is difficult. Table scraps should never account for more than 10% of your mature pets' diet. Treats are better than table scraps because they have the nutrition your pet needs to maintain his health. They also encourage good behavior, as treats are usually given as a reward. Many have ingredients not found in regular dog food, and so can provide additional nutrition.

Obesity is a rising problem in companion animals and contributes to a large number of diseases as well as discomfort for our beloved pets. Keeping your pet active and on a well-balanced diet is an important factor in our wellness care.

Whether your pet is fighting a weight problem or requires a special diet in conjunction with health care management and treatment, our Staff will counsel you on the many nutritional options that are available to pet owners. With busy work schedules, we understand it can be difficult for daily exercise with your pet. We understand that some pets, particularly senior pets, may find physical activity challenging due to arthritis or other common aging issues.
